Three specimens of Gobius couchi Miller & El-Tawil, 1974, recently found in the ichthyological collection of National Museum, Prague, represent the first record of this species in the Ionian Sea and Greece, and one of a few in the entire Mediterranean. Analysis of mitochondrial gene cytochrome b confirmed the species identification.
