The complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of Thymallus thymallus (Actinopterygii, Salmonidae) from a museum voucher caught in the Ain River (Rhône drainage) was sequenced. The sequence was 16 660 bp in length, consisted of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes including 2 tRNA-Leu and 2 tRNA-Ser, 2 ribosomic RNA genes and the control region. Intergenic space and overlapping sequences were found. The base composition of the whole mtDNA was 27.5% A, 27.9% T, 27.1% C and 17.5% G. This mitogenome was sequenced for less than 20 euros.
