Abstract

Two Red Sea platycephealids Papilloculiceps longiceps (Ehrenberg) and Sorsogona prionota (Sauvage) are reported for the first time from the Mediterranean, off the coast of Israel. Platycephalus indicus (Linnaeus) was reported much earlier from the same area. It is assumed that these three species reached the new geographical region by way of the Suez Canal.
