Résumé

Desmodema polystictum (Ogilby, 1898) was recorded for the first time from Lakshadweep waters, India. A single specimen (14.8 cm total length, weighing 29.2 g) has been caught using midwater trawl near Minicoy Island at a depth of 100 m. Morphological identification features are presented in this paper.
