Résumé

In the present study, the combined use of classical histological and 3D reconstruction methods allows us to characterize the structural organization of different types of dentine in five species of predatory teleosts. The examination evidences the presence of vasodentine and of plicidentine in the perciform Dissostichus eleginoides Smitt, 1898 and the presence of osteodentine in three other species of Perciformes without any plicidentine, Thyrsites atun (Euphrasen, 1791), Sphyraena guachancho Cuvier, 1829, Lepidopus caudatus (Euphrasen, 1788), as well as in an esociform species (Esox lucius Linnaeus, 1758). Histological methods are shown here to be useful combined with 3D imaging techniques to precise the organization of teleost tooth tissues, and more generally to study morphofunctional adaptation to the diet in both paleontological and neontogical contexts.
