Abstract

Treatment with estrogen was found to increase expression of estrogen receptor subtypes (ERα, ERβ1 or ERβ2) in the liver of goldfish during regressed gonadal stage. Here, we test the hypothesis that homologous ER regulation may occur in a seasonal-dependant manner. To make seasonal comparison, we investigated homologous regulation of the ERs expression in the livers of goldfish at mid-late stage of gonadal recrudescence. The results demonstrate that homologous regulation of the ER subtypes are different in the goldfish with regressed gonads, compared to those undergoing mid to late stages of gonadal recrudescence.
