My scientific activity has focused in two main scientific fields: estuarine communities and fishery Biology, the latter by far the most important.
In estuarine communities, I have been studying the fish assemblage structure of estuaries and coastal lagoons and the life history parameters (mainly age and growth and reproductive strategies) of the most important species of those communities.
In fishery biology, I have been studying fish, including both teleost and elasmobranch species and focusing pelagic, demersal and deep-water species. The main focus of my research has been the determination of life history population parameters (growth, reproduction, and mortality) and diet composition, stock ID and also the assessment and management of fisheries resources aiming the resource sustainability.
