Résumé

Substratum preferences of young plaice (Pleuronectes platessa), turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) and Dover sole (Solea solea) were observed in the laboratory under different levels of illumination. Settlement of these fish on a sandy substratum was significantly more frequent than on other substrata and the particle size of the sand affects the settlement preferences. Furthermore the choices of substrata were also affected by the light intensity.
