Résumé

The authors describe the reproduction cycle of Carasobarbus luteus and define 9 phases in that cycle. The ovocyte diameter is studied for each phase and the fecundity is expressed as a function of the body length, body weight and age of fish, and of the gonad weight. It is demonstrated that the age at the first maturity depends on the maximum size attained by the species and that the overall cycle is under the control of some external factors such as temperature and availability of food.
