Lycodes adolfi is described on the basis of eleven specimens caught off Northwest and Northeast Greenland. It differs from all other Atlantic Lycodes spp. in the restricted squamation, which begins at the midpoint of the fish or further back. It seems most similar to L. atlanticus Jensen, 1902.
