Abstract

On 11 May 2009, a specimen of Oarfish, Regalecus glesne Ascanius, 1772, was collected in the vicinity of Stobreč, Croatia. This rare fish was found alive, swimming near the coast. This is the first record of this species from the eastern Adriatic coast and the second from the entire Adriatic. Previous record considered a mutilated and only partly preserved specimen, which was captured in 1932.
