Abstract

This is the first record of fossil otoliths obtained from the middle to late Eocene Tavda Formation of Western Siberia. It is identified as representing Palimphemus eocenicus (Frost, 1931), a fossil Gadidae also known from the early Eocene of England. The paleobiogeographic implications of this find are briefly discussed.
