Abstract

The present paper is an annotated list of deep-sea fishes trawled during the oceanographic cruise MD-55 by the R.V. “Marion Dufresne” off Brazil during 1987. 85 species are reported, representing 39 families with several rare species of Congridae, Synaphobranchidae, Alepocephalidae, Chlorophthalmidae, Macrouridae and Ophidiidae. There are also 26 first records for the south-western Atlantic and/or the Brazilian waters. Specimens are deposited in the collections of the Universidade Santa Ursula, Rio de Janeiro and in the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris.
