Abstract

A specimen of the Caucasian dwarf goby Knipowitschia caucasica (Berg, 1916) was collected in northeast Hungary from the epipotamic section of the River Szamos in 2009. This is the first record of the Knipowitchia genus in the Carpathian basin and also the farthermost freshwater locality from the estuary of the Black Sea, giving fresh information on the dispersion of the Ponto-Caspian Gobiid species in the Danube drainage.
